From the wing-shape this would appear to be a poorly marked Pale-lemon Sallow and has been retained for the county recorder to confirm the ID. If I'm correct then this would be just the 3rd garden record of this species and the first since 2006.

Hi Bennyboymothman, thanks for the input. BC was my first thought as well but the hooked wing-shape doesn't look right and neither does the kidney-mark - too rounded. Dissection will hopefully prove it one way or the other and I'll update the blog with the result.
