A cool but dry night with moth numbers still depressed. Turnip Moth was new for the year and an interesting looking Minor sp needs confirmation of ID.

6th June 2009 - day flying

A cold, wet and windy day so something of a surprise to find any day-flying moths in the garden. This beautiful Yellow Shell had clearly not long emerged.

5th June 2009

Rain was forecast for late in the night so I thought it might be worth running the MV trap. Numbers right down to 56 moths of 19 species. Crambus perlella is new for the year and the identity of another crambid is yet to be established.

4th June 2009

I only put the trap out as the weather forecast made it look like the only trappable night over the coming week - so I was delighted when the last moth that I pulled from the trap this morning was a rather battered May Highflyer and a first for the garden.

2nd June 2009 - micros

A warm humid night brought out lots of moths (well over 200 in two traps) and lts of mosquitos. Several micros yet to be confirmed but the highlight so far was Phlyctaenia perlucidalis, local to the Fens, but the first here since 2006:
